The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released a three-day weather forecast warning of widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the northern, central, and southern regions of the country.

‎In its statement issued on Sunday, NiMet advised Nigerians to brace up for weather disturbances expected from Monday through Wednesday, with varying rainfall intensity and isolated thunderstorms anticipated.

‎

‎Morning: Early rains are expected in Taraba, Adamawa, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Kaduna.

‎

‎Afternoon/Evening: Thunderstorms and additional showers are likely in Adamawa, Taraba, Kebbi, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Kaduna, and Yobe.

‎

‎Central region: Morning cloudy skies may give way to light rains in Niger, with thunderstorms later in Plateau, Nasarawa, Abuja, Kogi, Benue, and parts of Niger.

‎

‎Southern states: Cloudy conditions are expected to start the day, followed by light rainfall over Imo, Abia, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom later.

‎

‎North: Morning sunshine with patches of clouds, but rain will follow in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Jigawa, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna.

‎

‎Central region: Rain likely in the morning in Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa, with additional rainfall in Abuja, Niger, and Plateau later in the day.

‎

‎South: Rainfall is expected in the afternoon and evening across Ondo, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa.

‎

‎Morning rains likely in Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Sokoto, and Taraba, with more rainfall expected in Yobe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Bauchi, Borno, and Kebbi by afternoon/evening.

‎

‎Central states such as Abuja, Plateau, Niger, and Kwara are forecast to experience moderate rainfall later in the day.

‎

‎South: Light showers in the morning across Enugu, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, with heavier downpours expected later in Ebonyi, Abia, Edo, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

‎

‎NiMet warns of strong winds likely to precede rainfall and urges the public to take precautionary measures. Citizens are advised to:

‎

‎Secure loose outdoor objects.

‎

‎Avoid driving during heavy rain.

‎

‎Unplug electrical appliances during thunderstorms.

‎

‎Stay away from tall trees and unstable structures.

‎

‎Airline operators and travelers are particularly encouraged to consult real-time weather updates before setting out on any journey.
