Ray Hushpuppi is said to be bear Raymond Igbalode as a name but the FBI gathered after his arrest that his real name is Ramon Olorunwa Abbas. He is from Lagos State.
He is speculated to be about 30 years old. He is a Nigerian socialite from Lagos State based in Dubai.
He was arrested in Dubai by FBI and Interpol over allegations of $USD35 million fraud on 10 June 2020. He has been jailed in the United States.
Once he was jailed, tongues started wagging in some regions of the country, “You see those calling us criminals and bandits are even worse than us”.
MESSAGE & LESSON
Before now we used to see crime and or corruption as a trademark(s) or logo(s) of some regions or a particular region in Nigeria.
Thankfully, the war against corruption has so far revealed to us that all regions of our beloved country are one and the same thing. It is a matter of the mindset of the individual and not an ethnic or tribal issue. Most of those we collectively put forward to represent us are disappointing.
The revelations from the ongoing probes across the board in most federal agencies, parastatal, and ministries are clear indications that corruption is deeply rooted in us because it appears institutionalized. More work needs to be done.
Little wonder the examples of youths mentioned above who got involved in different acts of crimes are just offshoots of what we hear, read and see around today…..like “The Fainting Saga”
For love or want of money, some Nigerian parents watch their children almost going naked and even attempt to make love on live television program branded Reality Show viewed across the globe. If any youth could do this just for money then, he or she could do anything.
