Armed men attacked a petrol dealer in Minna, the Niger State capital, in a daylight robbery, making away with N8 million. The suspects, who were said to be four in number, attacked the dealer at the Minna City gate, at gunpoint.
According to an eyewitness, the dealer was on his way to the bank to deposit the cash, which was the sales he made over the weekend, when the suspects driving in a Toyota Corolla car double-crossed him. The eyewitness said the suspects forced the dealer to stop at gunpoint, opened the boot of his car, and carted away the sack containing the money.
The state Commissioner of Police, Adam Elleman, has directed all Area Commanders in Minna and the Divisional Police Officer in Tudun-Wada to swing into action immediately towards arresting the suspects. The police spokesman confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police has directed a forensic investigation with a view to arresting the culprits.
The incident has raised concerns about security in Minna, and the police are working to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen funds.
