There will be no school in the state of Niger on Thursday, November 10, 2022, as Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has declared the day a holiday.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Ahmed Ibrahim Matane issued a statement explaining that the public holiday was instituted so that residents of the state could cast their votes in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
A holiday has been declared by the government for this coming Thursday.
The SSG also revealed that during the election period, markets and offices will be closed and the movement of people and vehicles will be restricted, except for those performing essential duties.
There will be a Local Government election on November 10th, 2022, and the SSG says that the “Government is urging citizens to go out and perform their civic duties on Thursday, 10th November 2022, as this presents yet another avenue to elect representatives and leaders who are expected to work for our collective aspirations at the Local Government level.”
The statement confirmed that Governor Sani Bello has issued orders to all security agencies in the state to guarantee peaceful elections and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring a smooth and secure process.
