On Friday, an additional 130 Nigerian evacuees from Sudan arrived in Abuja, marking the second phase of a government-sponsored evacuation initiative.
The individuals in question arrived via a Tarco Air aircraft at approximately 3 p.m. according to Nigerian time.
As per the report by PREMIUM TIMES, the initial cohort of 376 individuals who were repatriated arrived during the late hours of Wednesday via Air Peace and Nigeria Air Force aircraft.
As per the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), a total of approximately 1,700 Nigerian individuals are currently awaiting evacuation, with the process expected to be completed in the near future.
According to a statement released by NiDCOM on Twitter, Max Air, Azman Air, and C130 (NAF) are present on the ground to facilitate the evacuation of individuals. Additionally, Tarco has pledged to conduct two additional trips, and Air Peace is currently on standby.
As per the latest report concerning Nigerians at Port Sudan, the aforementioned agency has stated that a female individual who recently delivered a child is in good health along with her newborn, and will imminently depart for Nigeria.
A Nigerian individual who experienced a hand injury has undergone medical treatment and has subsequently been released from the healthcare facility.
