U.S. President Donald Trump praised rapper Nicki Minaj as “respected” and “so hot” while introducing her at a White House Rose Garden luncheon on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

A video of the moment quickly went viral online, drawing reactions from fans and political commentators.

“We also have a woman that is respected and so hot,” Trump said to guests at the event. “She is such a great friend, a fantastic person, a woman that is respected by everybody, and she’s got real talent. We have Nicki Minaj.”

The president’s comments came as he welcomed Minaj to the podium during the luncheon, which hosted entertainers, business leaders, and public figures.

Following the event, the Grammy-nominated artist shared photos from the Rose Garden on X, formerly Twitter, and appeared to embrace the president’s compliment.

“Whoa! #WhiteHouseBarbie with her favorite President of all time!” she wrote, referencing her long-running “Barbie” persona.

Minaj did not issue a separate statement about Trump’s remarks, but her post suggested she was comfortable with the attention and the setting.

A few months ago, the rapper was seen with the president at the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington. At that event, she described herself as “probably the president’s number one fan.”

“I don’t care about the hate or the people’s comments,” she said at the time, signaling that her support for Trump was not dependent on public opinion.

The two have increasingly been linked in public appearances, with Minaj attending political and business-related events hosted by the administration. Her presence has sparked discussion online about celebrities aligning with political figures, particularly ahead of the 2026 midterm cycle.

Trump’s “so hot” comment drew immediate attention on social media. Supporters praised the interaction as lighthearted and said it showed the president’s willingness to celebrate popular culture. Critics argued the language was inappropriate for a formal White House setting.

Entertainment analysts noted that Minaj’s appearance fits a broader pattern of musicians and actors engaging directly with political leaders. For Minaj, who has built a career on bold branding and direct fan engagement, the White House visit adds another headline to a year already marked by tours and new music releases.

Political observers also pointed out that celebrity endorsements and appearances can influence younger voters. Minaj has a massive global following, and her public association with Trump could resonate with segments of her audience that are politically engaged.

Nicki Minaj, born Onika Tanya Maraj, rose to fame in the late 2000s and became one of the most successful female rappers in history. Known for hits like _Super Bass_, _Anaconda_, and _Starships_, she has also been recognized for her distinctive style, alter egos, and outspoken personality.

Beyond music, Minaj has frequently used social media to address politics, culture, and personal issues directly with her fans. That approach has made her one of the most followed musicians online and a frequent topic of news coverage even outside of entertainment.

Her decision to attend White House events and publicly praise Trump marks a notable shift from many of her peers in the music industry, most of whom have tended to align with Democratic candidates in recent years.

The Rose Garden luncheon was part of a series of outreach events the Trump administration has held in 2026 to engage with leaders in entertainment, sports, and business. The events are often used to highlight administration initiatives and to bring public figures into policy discussions.

In Monday’s event, Trump emphasized themes of talent, friendship, and respect while introducing guests. Minaj was among several personalities recognized during the program.

The White House did not release an official transcript of all remarks, but video clips of the president’s introduction of Minaj circulated widely within hours.

Neither the White House nor Minaj’s representatives have announced further joint appearances. However, given Minaj’s recent posts and her comments at the Trump Accounts Summit, it is likely she will continue to appear at administration-related events.

For Trump, having a global pop star publicly call him her “favorite President of all time” provides cultural visibility. For Minaj, the association reinforces her image as an artist who speaks freely and does not conform to industry expectations about politicsTrump Calls Nicki Minaj “So Hot” During White House Rose Garden Event*

As the 2026 election season approaches, the intersection of music, celebrity, and politics is expected to become more pronounced. Minaj’s Rose Garden appearance is the latest example of how entertainers are being drawn into that conversation — sometimes with a single line that dominates the news cycle
