Donald Trump has returned to the White House as the 47th President of the United States, sparking concerns over his immigration and border policies. Trump’s inauguration ceremony took place on January 22, 2025, with the president-elect reciting the oath of office.
The ceremony was attended by former President George Bush, former President Bill Clinton, outgoing President Joe Biden, and other world leaders, including China’s Vice President Han Zheng. Billionaire tech chiefs Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg were also in attendance.

Trump’s return to the White House has raised concerns among immigrants and human rights groups, who fear that his administration will implement mass deportations and aggressive border control measures. Trump has promised to unleash a blitz of executive orders and actions, including mass deportations, pardons for rioters, and aggressive tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China.
The president-elect has also vowed to take a tough stance on immigration, with his “border czar” Tom Homan stating that the administration will arrest people deemed “public safety threats” from day one. Homan added that the administration will re-evaluate its initial moves on deportation following media leaks.
Trump’s inauguration marks a significant shift in US politics, with the Republican party gaining control of the Senate and holding narrow control of the House of Representatives. The president-elect has promised to work towards maintaining peace with China and mediating in the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
