Two separate accidents in Ogun State have resulted in the deaths of two people and left five others injured. The incidents occurred on Saturday along the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway and the Ogijo/Ita-Oluwo/Ikorodu Road.
According to the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the first accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway involved a container truck and a Toyota Sienna vehicle. The driver of the Toyota Sienna lost control of the steering and crashed into the rear of the container truck, resulting in the death of one passenger and injuring five others.
The second accident occurred along the Ogijo/Ita-Oluwo/Ikorodu Road, where a tricycle struck a female pedestrian, causing severe head injuries. Despite receiving medical attention, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries.
The police have impounded the tricycle and taken the driver into custody for further investigation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has urged drivers to exercise caution and maintain a safe distance from heavy-duty vehicles to prevent avoidable accidents.
