
Tragedy struck on Thursday as two people lost their lives in separate auto crashes in Lagos and Ogun states. The incidents occurred barely 48 hours after two separate accidents in the same states claimed one life and left six others injured.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), a driver died after his vehicle rammed into a moving truck along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to brake failure and excessive speeding.
The driver was trapped in the wreckage and despite rescue efforts, he was recovered lifeless.
In another incident, a pedestrian was knocked down by a wrong-way driver along the Ifo axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
The pedestrian died on the spot, and the driver was taken into custody for further investigation.
The spokesperson for LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incidents, stating that the authority would continue to work towards reducing the number of accidents on the roads.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency also confirmed the incident, stating that the driver was being held for further investigation.
