VP Kashim Shettima has said that Nigeria has prepared over a portion of a billion dollars for innovative, profitable, equitable and sustainable food systems transformation initiative.
The VP made the exposure while leading a significant level meeting on the second day of the UN Food Systems Summit declared open in Rome, Italy, by the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres.
In a proclamation by his media office, VP Shettima said the fund were prepared “through domestic resources, multilateral development banks, climate funds establishments, environment supports driving agro-businesses” and would be used for “Innovation finance for food system transformation; development of Nigeria’s agro value chain and Special Agro-industrial Processing Zones programs.”
Making sense of further, senator Shettima said: ” in this occasion, the Public authority of Nigeria will be exhibiting its Value Chain Development Program (VCDP) as a novel illustration of an effective organization between producers, the public sector and private operators.
“The VCDP which is co-supported by the of Nigeria and IFAD has enabled weak ranchers and youth to draw in into business organizations with probably the greatest food handling and promoting firms on the planet, for example, OLAM, a world driving agri-business organization working in more than 60 nations with a yearly income of about $39.8 billion.”
In participation were the Leader of IFAD, Dr. Alvaro Lario, H.E. Muhammad Suleiman Al Jasser, Leader of Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), VP of AfDB, Mrs. Hassatau N’Sele, VP of OLAM Worldwide Mr. Reji George and VP, Product Aaliance Discussion (Agent of ranchers) Mrs Ejim Lovelyn.
