The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has banned all social activities on campus that extend beyond 6 pm. This directive, signed by Acting Public Relations Officer Mr. Inya Egwu, aims to ensure a safe and secure environment for all members of the university community.
The ban comes after an unfortunate incident on September 15 where a businessman, Chiebonam Nweze, was stabbed to death during a bonfire night organized by the students’ association of the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies. According to the university management, the incident was hijacked by miscreants from a neighboring community who instigated violence
All social activities must be held strictly during the daytime.Events will be supervised by the University Security Unit.Social events of any kind will not be permitted on campus beyond 6:00 p.m.
The UNN management has assured the public that the university remains committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all members of its community. The management will continue to take necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents
