Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has made a heartfelt public appeal for financial support as she battles a serious health condition that requires three urgent surgeries.

In a video and statement shared on Wednesday, July 24, 2026, the 62-year-old actress revealed that she has been hospitalized for the past three weeks and is in need of ₦30 million to cover life-saving medical procedures.

Nwosu, known for her decades-long career in film and television, said speaking publicly was not an easy decision. But she could no longer remain silent.

“My people, my fans and my family. I know you have not seen me in circulation for some time. I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks,” she said in the video posted to her page.

Accompanying the clip was a photo of the actress lying in a hospital bed, appearing frail but composed.

She explained that her condition has deteriorated beyond what she can manage on her own. Doctors have recommended three separate surgeries, and the estimated cost for all of them is ₦30,000,000.

The appeal was raw and direct. Nwosu asked fans, colleagues, and well-wishers not to abandon her at this critical moment.

“Pls, the thing has gone beyond my control. I need your help. Don’t let me die. I know that you people never forsake me, and I know that God will always see me through. But I am begging you my fans and family, don’t let me down,” she said.

She also spoke about the physical pain she has been enduring.
“I am going through a lot of pain. I have like three surgeries to go through.”

In the caption to her post, she urged people to share her message widely.
“Please don’t scroll past. Share this post and support if you can. God bless you, and may you and yours never experience this affliction.”

She asked that anyone willing to assist contact her management or legal representative for details on how to contribute.

Ngozi Nwosu is one of Nollywood’s most respected veteran actresses. With a career spanning more than three decades, she has appeared in countless films, TV series, and stage productions that helped shape Nigerian entertainment.

She first came into national prominence in the late 80s and 90s and has since become a familiar face across generations. From comedy to drama, Nwosu is known for her versatility, warmth, and ability to bring depth to every role.

Off-screen, she has also been an advocate for the welfare of actors and for preserving Nigerian culture through storytelling.

Because of that legacy, news of her health struggle has drawn an outpouring of concern from fans and colleagues across the industry.

In her post, Nwosu made it clear that all donations and inquiries should go through her management team. She did not disclose the specific nature of her illness, only that the surgeries are urgent and life-saving.

The ₦30 million target covers medical fees, hospital care, and post-surgery treatment.

She closed her message with a prayer: “May you and yours never experience this affliction.”

Since the appeal went up, fans have flooded her comments with prayers, words of encouragement, and pledges to help. Many have also called on the government, corporate bodies, and wealthy individuals in the entertainment industry to rally around her.

Nwosu’s appeal highlights a recurring challenge in Nollywood: the lack of a structured health and welfare system for veteran actors.

Over the years, several older actors have had to rely on public fundraising to cover medical bills. While some have received support from colleagues, fans, and NGOs, many struggle in silence.

Industry stakeholders have repeatedly called for better health insurance, a welfare fund, and pension plans for actors who spent years building the industry but now face old age and medical costs without support.

For now, the focus is on getting Nwosu the help she needs quickly. Her management says they are coordinating donations and will provide updates on her treatment.

Fans have begun sharing her post across Instagram, X, Facebook, and WhatsApp, with the hashtag #HelpNgoziNwosu trending among supporters.

As of Thursday morning, there has been no official update on when the surgeries will take place, but Nwosu’s team says time is of the essenceVeteran Actress Ngozi Nwosu Appeals for ₦30 Million to Cover Urgent Surgeries: “Don’t Let Me Die

In her video, Nwosu looked directly into the camera and spoke not just as a celebrity, but as a mother, a colleague, and a woman in pain.

“I know God will see me through,” she said. “But I am begging you… don’t let me down.”Ngozi Nwosu has given decades to entertaining Nigerians. Now, she is asking Nigerians to give back — not with applause, but with support that could save her life.
