The chair person of the Nigeria association of women journalist NAWOJ, Edo State chapter, Adesuwa Ehiemua, says there is need for women to come out in any position of their choice for the forthcoming election.

she said this on Friday, at the press conference organized by the women led civil society advocacy group,(WOLSAG) in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Women journalist (NAWOJ), at the press center in benin city, Edo State capital, with the theme, AN ALL INCLUSIVE POLITICAL SPACE: A REQUISITE FOR DEVELOPMENT, GENUINE AND SUSTAINABLE DEMOCRACY.

Ehiemua also said the press conference was organized to encourage the women to succeed in the society.

on her speech, the convener of the event, Sabina Idowu_ osehobo, call on women to participate in political leadership and decision making in various parties.

osehobo demand that political parties should produce female candidate across all level from local government to the house of assembly and the national assembly.

Wolsag/Nawoj call on political parties to ensure that women are nominated as flag bearers of their parties, they added that there are eminently qualified women who are seeking normination in local government, house of assembly,and house of representative.

they said women are major stakeholders in the development project of any society and the issue of women marginalisation and low participation in the political leadership and decision making have been attracting alot of attention.

others who spoke at the event said they need women who are capable in carrying out their duties and also women should support women in achieving their political goals.
