𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗼𝘀, 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝗷𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 no get light.

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) dey yan say Lagos, Abuja and North no go get light for some time now  because of the nyama nyama wey dey affect am.

Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) tok say di reduction no be because Nigeria no get enough electricity generation. According to dem, na several faults and outages for important transmission lines wey make di national grid no fit carry enough current to some areas.

NISO explain say even if power stations dey generate plenty light, e no mean say every area go receive di same power. Transmission lines na dem dey carry di electricity from where dem generate am go different load centres. So, when important lines get fault, NISO must reduce or change di amount of power wey dem send go some places so di remaining network no overload and cause bigger blackout.

For Lagos side, several important 330kV lines get problem, including Olorunsogo Ayede, Benin Egbin and Benin Omotosho lines. Osogbo Ikeja West circuit too don stay out of service for some time. Because of all these problems together, NISO say dem had to reduce power allocation to Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Ikeja Electric and Sakete international supply.

For North, di Shiroro Mararaba 330kV Line 1 trip between August 24 and 26, 2026. Later, around 6:47am on August 27, Shiroro Mando 330kV Line 2 and Mando Jos 330kV Line 1 trip at di same time. Dis situation affect power supply to Jos, North East and other northern areas.

NISO say alternative Apir Lafia 330kV Lines 1 and 2 also don remain unavailable because of faults. Because di network capacity reduce, power allocation to Kano, Kaduna, Jos, Yola and other areas had to be adjusted to keep di remaining transmission system safe.

For Abuja axis, Shiroro Katampe 330kV Line 1 and Gwagwalada Katampe 330kV Line 1 both trip around 3:55am on August 29. But technicians restore di two lines shortly after, around 7:25am and 7:20am respectively, helping to recover di affected transmission capacity.

NISO say dem dey monitor di national grid continuously and dey adjust power movement according to di condition of di transmission network. Dem warn say one major fault for an important line fit affect electricity supply for areas wey dey far from where di fault happen because all di parts of di Nigerian power system dey connected.

So, di operator make am clear say di recent reduction for allocation no automatically mean say generation don fall. Na transmission constraints be di main problem for di affected periods. Until some of di faulty transmission circuits return fully to service, some areas fit continue to experience changes for their electricity supply.
