Kaduna Governor cites infrastructure, security and education projects in appeal for northern support
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has expressed confidence that voters across Nor hithern Nigeria will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying the region will reward the administration for its interventions in infrastructure, security, education and agriculture.
Sani made the declaration during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna, where Tinubu formally launched his campaign for a second term.
According to the governor, the Federal Government’s investments and development initiatives across the North provide a basis for voters to assess the President’s performance ahead of the next presidential election.
Sani recalled Tinubu’s campaign visit to Birnin Gwari in 2022, when insecurity posed a major challenge to residents and travellers. He said the President had promised to reconstruct the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road and address insecurity along the corridor, adding that work on the road was now underway.
The governor also highlighted the reopening of more than 300 schools and over 150 primary healthcare centres in Kaduna State that had previously been shut because of insecurity. He commended the Federal Government’s ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway, which he said was nearing completion.
On education and youth development, Sani cited studen wet loan programmes, vocational training and other interventions aimed at expanding opportunities for young people across the region. He also praised federal support for agriculture, describing it as an important area for improving livelihoods.
The governor argued that political support should be based on candidates’ records and performance rather than regional identity. He challenged opposition politicians seeking the presidency to demonstrate what they had achieved while holding public office.
His remarks came as the APC intensified its preparations for the 2027 election, with Tinubu seeking a second four-year term amid continuing economic pressures and security challenges facing Nigerians.
Although Sani expressed confidence in northern support, the governor’s declaration represents the APC leadership’s political expectation rather than a guarantee of how voters across the region will ultimately cast their ballots.
The 2027 election is expected to test the administration’s record on economic reforms, living costs, security and development, as opposition parties seek to present alternative political and economic programmes.
Kaduna Governor Uba Sani says Northern Nigeria will support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, citing infrastructure, security, education and agricultural interventions.
