“2027 Elections: Pantami Alleges Intimidation, Raises Security Concerns During Gombe Thank You Tour”

Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has raised concerns over what he described as intimidation and security threats encountered during his ongoing thank you tour across Gombe State, an exercise widely viewed as politically significant ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

Pantami, who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari, alleged that attempts were made to disrupt aspects of the tour through intimidation and heightened security pressure. According to him, despite the reported challenges, supporters continued to receive him in various communities across the state.

The former minister said the tour was organized to appreciate residents, traditional leaders, supporters, and other stakeholders for their continued goodwill and support. While he did not publicly identify those allegedly responsible for the reported intimidation, his comments have generated political discussion within Gombe State as political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections gradually take shape.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Gombe State Government, security agencies, or other authorities regarding Pantami’s allegations. Sele Media Africa could not independently verify the claims, and no formal investigation has been publicly announced.

Political observers note that the incident underscores growing concerns about political tolerance, freedom of movement, and the security of public figures as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum across Nigeria. Analysts continue to emphasize the importance of ensuring a peaceful democratic environment where all political actors can engage citizens without fear of intimidation, in accordance with the rule of law.
