Police officers of the Ogidi Division of the Anambra State Police Order have captured the Commandant of the Ojoto People group Cautiousness Gathering and two different suspects connected to the claimed grab and murder of a tricycle administrator, Christian Onah.

Onah, a commercial tricycle operator of 25 years old who is from the Ovoko community in the Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, was reported missing on May 28, 2023, when he did not come back home after going about his usual business.

Onah was said to have been living in the Oba community in the state’s Idemili South Local Government Area prior to his disappearance.

A yet-to-be-recognized neighbor purportedly raised the caution over his unexpected vanishing and hence detailed the matter at a close by police headquarters.

The neighbor, who spoke on condition of anonymity for reasons of security, stated that the owner of the tricycle he was using for commercial purposes on hire purchase engaged the services of a security tracker when Onah’s whereabouts remained unknown for a few days. This led to the arrest of a man who was in possession of the missing tricycle.

“On further interrogations, the man confessed to buying the tricycle from the Ojoto Community Vigilance Group and took the police operatives to the place,” the neighbor reported.

“He mentioned the vigilante commander as the one who masterminded the abduction and subsequent killing of Onah after the police arrested the vigilante official who sold him the tricycle. He said they tossed his carcass in a stream in the Mmili John Ojoto people group.”

Onah’s dad, Emmanuel, who had been lamenting over the demise of his child, requested equity, adding that the suspects connected to the wrongdoing had wouldn’t reveal the whereabouts of his child’s carcass.

The deceased’s father urged the police to find all those responsible for his son’s death and called for an in-depth investigation.

Reached for a response on the turn of events, the state Police Advertising Official, Ikenga Tochukwu, said he had not been informed about the occurrence.

Ikenga vowed to connect with the police division worried for a legitimate update yet still couldn’t seem to return to our journalist as of the time this report was recorded.

However, the vigilance group commander and other suspects were arrested on Wednesday, according to a senior Ogidi Division police officer who requested anonymity due to lack of authorization.

He added that the leaders and stakeholders of the Ojoto community were interested in the matter and that the police had increased their efforts to arrest additional suspects associated with the crime. On June 29, 2023, vigilantes dump the body of an Anambra tricycle operator into the river.
