On April 18, 2024, the Chief Magistrate Court in Ikorodu issued an order for Wunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to be served notice of the pending DNA test application through substituted means. The court order allows for the posting of all necessary court processes on Wunmi’s last-known address.Court Grants Order to Serve Mohbad's Wife with DNA Test Notice

The application was filed by the legal team representing Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer. The Aloba family is contesting the paternity of baby Liam and has requested a DNA test to resolve the issue. The court process had previously been unsuccessful in reaching Wunmi, prompting the need for an alternative method of service.

The legal team argued that serving the court process on Wunmi’s last-known address would constitute proper service and ensure that she is aware of the pending suit. The Chief Magistrate granted the order, directing that the court process be posted on Wunmi’s last known address.

It is worth noting that Wunmi, in a viral video, expressed her readiness to undergo a DNA test but claimed that she had not been available to receive the court sheriff. However, her lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, stated that they were not aware of the court order at the time.

The matter has been adjourned until next month for the report of service. The outcome of the DNA test will play a crucial role in determining the paternity of baby Liam and resolving the ongoing legal dispute.

Mohbad, a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, passed away at the age of 27 on September 12, 2023. His death sparked controversies, and the Lagos State Police Command formed a special investigation team to probe the circumstances surrounding his demise. The arrest of Naira Marley and other individuals was also linked to his death.

To establish the cause of his death, Mohbad’s body was exhumed for an autopsy on September 21, 2023. The results of the autopsy have not been disclosed publicly.

As the legal proceedings continue, it is important to respect the privacy of those involved and await the court’s decision on the DNA test application.
