Residents lament as hoodlums terrorise Lagos community, stab man

Residents of Fadeyi, a community in the Somolu area of Lagos State, are expressing concern over the escalating activities of hoodlums in their neighborhood. According to the residents who spoke with , these hoodlums, who are aged between 16 and 20, have been terrorizing both the residents and business owners in the area.

The gang has also been reported to have intimidated the police, preventing them from taking action against their criminal activities. The most recent incident involved an attack on a staff member of a water company named Segun Ojeleye in the Alhaji Calfo area of the community.

According to a resident who preferred to remain anonymous for security reasons, the altercation began when the gang accused the water delivery truck of hitting an illegally bypassed electric pole. The argument escalated, and one of the gang members grabbed a bottle from a nearby barber shop and stabbed Ojeleye. The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent major surgery.

Another resident revealed that the gang has been extorting money from business owners who have purchased new items for their businesses. They demand exorbitant amounts of money before allowing the items to be offloaded or used.

The residents also expressed concern about the gang’s harassment and molestation of young girls in the area. They called for the intervention of the police to put an end to their activities.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, to confirm the residents’ complaints were unsuccessful. The residents are urging the police authorities to take decisive action against the gang and restore peace and security to their community.

The residents of Fadeyi are determined to stand up against these hoodlums and are calling for the support and intervention of law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of their community.
