Following a thorough assessment of the structure, officials found that both the barracks and surrounding buildings were in a dangerous state, necessitating immediate evacuation to avert potential loss of life and damage to property.
“The agency dispatched a response team to the location, and the findings indicate that the building and those adjacent must be evacuated with immediate effect,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated. “We are conducting a response plan that comprises an assessment, safe and orderly evacuation, and controlled demolition.”
Under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the government is taking proactive measures to address the situation. The statement further emphasized that the demolition is a precautionary step to prevent secondary incidents that could arise if the building remains unattended.
