Eben Enasco, a journalist reports that Madam Blacky Ogiamien, head of Edo State’s Market Women Association, has dismissed protesters against her leadership as unemployed individuals with no connection to the association.
The protesters, from the Traders Welfare Association, have been demonstrating over alleged mismanagement of N100 million disbursed by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s administration in 2013.
Madam Blacky described the protesters as ignorant and sponsored by politicians to install a new leader.
Recall that a certain Comrade Lucky Orukpe in company of acclaimed members of Traders Welfare Association led a delibating protest to the Palace of the Oba of Benin, HRM, Ewuare II, GCFR, calling for the removal of Madam Blacky Ogiamien, the incumbent Iyeki of Edo State.
Reacting to the allegations, She emphasized her association’s registration under the Corporate Affairs Commission and questioned the protesters’ credibility, stating they lack trading shops in the market.
Allegations of her not having a market shop were labeled as fabricated lies aimed at tarnishing her reputation.
Madam Blacky implicated the underfire Lucky Orukpe and his followers, who are neither association members nor shop owners, as orchestrators of the protests.
Madam Blacky Ogiamien has taken a firm stance against the protests, revealing that the Market Women Association has engaged its legal team to take swift action against Comrade Lucky Orukpe and his sponsors.
Emphasizing the association’s commitment to protecting its reputation, she issued a stern warning to those fueling the crisis, urging them to desist from meddling in the association’s affairs.
This decisive move demonstrates Madam Blacky’s resolve to safeguard the association’s interests and maintain stability within the market community.
