The Nigerian Army on Wednesday laid to rest the late Commander of 29 Joint Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Captain Ismail, and other soldiers killed in recent insurgent attacks in Borno State.
The soldiers died during April 16 attacks by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters. The insurgents launched simultaneous assaults on multiple military positions in Benisheikh, a strategic town in Kaga Local Government Area along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.
Meanwhile, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion repelled a fresh attack by suspected terrorists on Thursday.
The Army, in a statement on its official Facebook handle @Nigerian Army HQ, said the military personnel were buried at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri.
In a solemn and emotionally charged ceremony, the nation on Thursday, 16 April 2026, laid to rest Late Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Captain Ismail, and other gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty,” the statement read.
The burial, held at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri, Borno State, was marked by deep sorrow, honour and reflection.”
