Edo APC Primary Tussle: Oba Ewuare II Calls for Calm, Unity Among Party Leaders

The Ewuare II, has called on political actors involved in the Edo South Senatorial District All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election dispute to embrace peace and allow God determine the final outcome of the process.

The revered monarch gave the advice on Friday when he received APC chieftain, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, alongside party leaders at his palace in Benin City, Edo State.

Speaking in Benin language, the royal father stressed the need for unity among party members and urged aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to end hostilities in the interest of peace and stability in the state.

According to the monarch, “It is the way God wants things to be that is the way it is. You do not argue with God.

“Everything has its own time. God’s time is the best. All of you in APC should join hands with one another, cooperate and work together.

“Those who lost should remain calm and patient. God has plans for them. Those who are aggrieved should understand that God is preparing them for something greater.

“The way God and our ancestors want it, that is how the outcome will be.”

Earlier, Ogbeide-Ihama, while displaying his result sheet, informed the palace that the national leadership of the APC was yet to issue a certificate of return to the winner of the primary election.

He, however, alleged that the results from the exercise conducted by the party’s national body indicated that he emerged victorious by a wide margin.

Ogbeide-Ihama said that as a loyal Benin son, he deemed it necessary to pay homage to the Oba of Benin and seek prayers from the palace while awaiting the final decision of the party leadership.

The delegation was led by Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, and included former Deputy Governor and Edo South APC leader, Pius Odubu, Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, APC Secretary, Lawrence Okah, Retired General Charles Airhiavbere, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, and other party leaders.
