The Edo State Police Command has announced the deployment of adequate security personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikioedem, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has intensified security arrangements before, during, and after the festivities.

According to the statement, over 6,000 police personnel drawn from various formations, including tactical units, the Police Mobile Force, State Intelligence Department (SID), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and other operational teams, have been strategically deployed across Eid prayer grounds, markets, highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public places in the state.

The police said the deployment is aimed at strengthening visibility policing, strategic patrols, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations to prevent crime and protect residents.

The command also warned criminal elements to stay away from Edo State, stressing that security operatives are fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone threatening public peace and safety.

While congratulating Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, CP Agbonika urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and security conscious throughout the period.

He also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station or relevant security agency through the following emergency lines: 08077773721, 08037646272, Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) – 08150999335, and Complaints Response Unit (CRU) – 08100389992.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring residents celebrate in a secure environment.
