Edo Queens capped an impressive campaign with a dominant 4-1 victory over FC Robo Queens, with Chioma Moses scoring twice in the first half before second-half goals from Precious Oscar and Mary Mamudu sealed the emphatic win.

Governor Okpebholo said the team’s success reflects the spirit of excellence and hard work for which Edo people are known, adding that the government remains committed to supporting sports development across the state.

According to him, his administration will continue to reposition the sports sector through improved infrastructure, increased support for athletes and policies aimed at creating more opportunities for young talents to excel.

He noted that sports remain a powerful tool for youth development, empowerment and social cohesion, stressing that the government will continue to provide an enabling environment for Edo athletes and teams to compete successfully at national and international levels.

“Edo Queens have made the people of Edo State proud. Their achievement reflects the spirit of excellence, hard work and determination that defines our people. I congratulate the champions and assure them of our continued support,” the governor said.

Governor Okpebholo also charged athletes across the state to remain focused and committed to excellence, assuring them of sustained investment in programmes and initiatives that will further restore Edo State’s position as a powerhouse in Nigerian sports.

He described Edo Queens as worthy ambassadors of the state and encouraged them to continue inspiring young girls and aspiring athletes to pursue their dreams through sports.
