OsunDecides 2026: Davido Challenges INEC Over Delayed IReV Results Upload, Calls for Transparency.

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has questioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the pace of uploading polling-unit results from the 2026 Osun State governorship election to the commission’s Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

In a post on X on Saturday, August 15, Davido expressed concern that no result had appeared on the portal as of 2:33 p.m., asking INEC to explain the delay and stressing the importance of timely and transparent updates to Nigerians.

The intervention came as voting and result-processing activities continued across Osun State. Davido also urged voters and supporters to ensure that polling-unit results were properly recorded on the relevant electoral forms, signed and uploaded to IReV. The Sun separately reported his concerns over allegations that some presiding officers intended to enter results only at collation centres rather than documenting them at the polling units.

IReV is designed to provide the public with access to electronically transmitted polling-unit result sheets, making it an important component of Nigeria’s efforts to improve transparency in election result management. INEC had previously assured stakeholders that results from the Osun governorship election would be uploaded to the portal.

The situation subsequently changed as INEC began publishing results. By 3:57 p.m., 325 polling-unit results had reportedly been uploaded to IReV, representing 8.64 per cent of the 3,763 results expected across the state. P.M. News reported that Osogbo Local Government Area had the highest number of uploads at that point, with 42 results, followed by Ife East with 37 and Ife Central with 28.

The emergence of results on IReV, however, should not be interpreted as an indication of which candidate is leading the election. The official winner will be determined through INEC’s established collation and declaration process, while IReV serves primarily as a mechanism for public access to polling-unit result sheets.

Davido’s comments have added to public scrutiny of INEC’s handling of the electronic results process in an election being closely watched for its implications for electoral transparency and public confidence. His concerns have been reported by several Nigerian media organisations, including Vanguard, Daily Trust, Nigerian Tribune and The Sun.

As collation continues, attention will remain on INEC’s ability to ensure that polling-unit results are accurately documented, uploaded and reflected in the official electoral record. For voters and observers, timely access to verified results remains an important safeguard against misinformation and competing unofficial claims during the post election period.
