A Federal High Court sitting in Benin City has remanded the former Odionwere Omuada, the Oba’s Scimitar bearer Mr. Roland Osagbaekhoe Omo – Ogbebor for fraud-related charges.
The said Mr. Roland Ogbebor was arraigned before the court on a three(3) count charges of fraud running into thirty -one million naira under the pretense of selling some plots of land in Okhuoromi village to two persons.
The council to the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Mohammed prayed the court to remand the defendant in the custody of the correctional center.
In his reply, the counsel to the defendant Chief M.I. Ukpebor urged the court to allow the defendant to remain in the custody of the E.F.C.C instead of the correctional center, and the EFCC counsel informed the court that the commission does not have space to accommodate the defendant in their custody.
The trial Judge, Hon Justice S.M Shuiabu accordingly remanded the defendant in the custody of the correctional center and adjourned the case to March 8th, 2022 for hearing of the defendant bail application filed.
