THE acting Vice Chancellor of the Ambrose Alli University, (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, Prof. Sonnie Adagbonyin has showered encomiums on the outgoing acting Registrar of AAU, Mr. Edward Aihevba for his outstanding achievements in office.
He gave the commendation while speaking at the Second Registry Lecture of the institution, titled: Administrative Imperatives for Universities: A case Study of Ambrose Alli University; delivered by the outgoing acting Registrar, Mr. Edward Aihevba.
The acting vice chancellor asserted that the outgoing Registrar in his short time in office recorded numerous achievements which were of benefit to the staff, students and the university in general.
Prof. Adagbonyin stated that Mr. Aihevba who would be retiring from the services of the Ambrose Alli University on Monday, March 21, 2022, would be remembered for his dedicated and meritorious service to the university.
Praised the registry department and outgoing Registrar for the registry lecture initiative, and called on other departments of the university to emulate the registry department by organizing similar lectures for staff members.
He used the opportunity to inform everyone present of the university management’s determination to ensure staff members were continually trained and retrained via ICT, just as he equally spoke his administration’s avowed commitment to repositioning the university in line with the vision of the Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Delivering the lecture titled: Administrative Imperatives for Universities: A Case Sturdy of Ambrose Alli University, Mr. Aihevba emphasized the importance of staff training, noting that “if you don’t train them don’t blame them”.
He explained that the registry lecture was introduced in his time as acting Registrar because of his desire to broaden and sharpen the administrative skills of staff of the registry for optimum performance.
He recalled the dark days of Ambrose Alli University when the university struggled for survival due to the self sustenance policy of the then military government, and pleaded with the state government for continue to fund the university in order to avoid a repeat of the image problems that bedeviled the institution at that time.
Award of honours were given to prominent members of the university community, as well as past registrars, including those that have passed on, as well as servings deputy registrars, and other outstanding staff members.
