  • The Edo State Government has debunked claims by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) alleging that Governor Monday Okpebholo approved N6 billion as compensation to so-called “Fulani terrorists” following the recent Uromi killings. In a strongly-worded statement on Thursday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, described the accusation as a reckless falsehood designed to incite ethnic conflict and destabilise the peace of Edo State. The controversy stems from the events of 28 March, when sixteen hunters from Kano State were killed in the Udune Efandion community of Uromi. In the aftermath, Governor Okpebholo visited Kano to sympathise with the families of the victims and appeal for calm, while a delegation from Kano later travelled to Edo to engage in peace discussions. IPOB, in a statement released on 21 April, alleged that the Governor had secretly approved a N6 billion compensation package to appease the bereaved families a claim which the Edo State Government swiftly dismissed as baseless and inflammatory. “There is no truth whatsoever in the claim that Governor Monday Okpebholo approved or paid N6 billion to any group,” Itua said. “This is a fictitious and malicious lie concocted by IPOB to sow seeds of discord and destabilise the harmony we have nurtured in Edo State.” The government warned that IPOB’s repeated attempts to manipulate public sentiment and incite ethnic hostility under the cover of activism would not succeed in Edo State. “It has become a known tactic of this proscribed group to exploit tragic situations to spread hate and misinformation,” the statement added. “Their agenda of violence and ethnic disintegration has no place here.” Emphasising its commitment to unity, security and justice for all residents, the Edo State Government reaffirmed its stance against any form of ethnic or religious discrimination. The statement also urged security agencies to investigate the source of the inciting publication and prosecute those behind it, stressing that public order and peace must not be jeopardised by dangerous propaganda. “We remain resolute in our commitment to justice, peace and the protection of all Edo people, regardless of background,” the government declared. “We will continue to uphold the values of unity, tolerance and truth in the face of reckless attempts to destabilise our state.”

Abeg Na Old Video’: 2Baba and Annie Idibia Shut Down Reunion Rumours After Viral Clip Resurfaces

Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has dismissed speculation that he and his ex-wife Annie Idibia have rekindled their romance, after an old video of the pair dancing together went viral over the weekend.

The clip, which showed the former couple dancing affectionately to 2Baba’s hit song _Amaka_, sparked renewed talk online that they were back together. Both 2Baba and Annie have now clarified that the video is not recent.

two daughters. Over the years their relationship played out largely in the public eye, from music videos to reality TV.

In 2025, however, 2Baba announced on social media that they had separated. He confirmed the end of the marriage in a post, saying it was a decision made after much reflection.

Since the separation, both have kept relatively low profiles on the subject. Annie has focused on motherhood, business, and personal growth. In previous interviews she said she doesn’t see herself as a “single mum” but as “a woman with kids,” emphasizing that she is building her life beyond the marriage.

2Baba has also continued with music and philanthropy, while staying out of detailed public commentary about their split — until the viral video forced a response.

For fans, the clip was nostalgic. _Amaka_ was released in 2018 and became one of 2Baba’s most beloved songs. The video featured Annie prominently, and at the time it was celebrated as a tribute to love and partnership.

Seeing them dance together again, even in an old clip, triggered hope among some fans that the couple might reconcile. Comment sections were filled with messages like “bring them back together” and “this is the energy we need.”

But both parties were quick to set the record straight. Their coordinated responses suggest they are keen to avoid renewed speculation about their private lives

Since the separation, Annie has been vocal about self-growth. She has spoken about focusing on her children, her wellness journey, and building a career independent of her marriage. She has also been careful about what she shares online, often reminding followers not to believe everything they see on social media.

2Baba, for his part, has continued touring, recording, and supporting causes through his foundation. He has largely avoided discussing the details of the separation in interviews, preferring to let his music do the talking.

Both have said in the past that despite the end of their marriage, they remain committed to co-parenting and to protecting their children from online drama

The incident highlights how quickly old content can be taken out of context online. In the age of short-form videos and reposts, a clip from years ago can easily be presented as new, leading to false narratives.Annie’s comment — “Believe everything u see on SM at ur expense!” — was a direct warning to fans to verify before jumping to conclusions.

For public figures like 2Baba and Annie, who have millions of followers, even a 10-second clip can generate headlines and weeks of speculation.

Reactions online were mixed. Some fans expressed disappointment that it wasn’t a real reunion, while others applauded both for handling the rumour maturely.

At least they’re still cordial enough to dance together in old videos,” one fan wrote. Another commented, “Let them be. They’ve moved on and that’s okay.”

The tone of 2Baba’s response — light, with laughing emojis — also suggested there is no bad blood, even if a romantic reunion is not on the cards

For now, bothAbeg Na Old Video’: 2Baba and Annie Idibia Shut Down Reunion Rumours After Viral Clip Resurfaces 2Baba and Annie appear focused on their individual paths. The viral video may have briefly reignited memories of their time together, but their statements make it clear that chapter has closed.

Abeg nah old video o” may have been said in jest, but it also served as a firm boundary: the past is the past, and fans should not read too much into it
