Anthony Joshua has received tactical advice from fellow London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Luke Campbell ahead of his anticipated heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury, scheduled for December 11 in Cardiff.
Campbell, a former professional boxer who has since entered politics, believes Joshua must make effective use of his combinations and take advantage of opportunities to land clean punches against his taller opponent.
Speaking about the potential contest, Campbell noted that Fury’s height and reach could make the fight difficult for Joshua. He advised the former world heavyweight champion to close the distance carefully and throw combinations rather than rely on single punches.
According to Campbell, Joshua would need to attack repeatedly when openings appear, while remaining cautious about his positioning. He warned that leaning too far forward could expose Joshua to Fury’s lead hook.
The proposed all-British encounter is attracting significant interest among boxing fans, with the two former world champions expected to meet after years of rivalry.
Joshua and Campbell both won gold medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, although in different weight categories. Campbell’s advice adds to the growing discussion about the tactics Joshua may need to employ in what could be one of the most closely watched heavyweight contests of the year.
