Asake stated, “This is how I feel now. I love to feel comfortable in myself, in the things that I feel is good for me, not even about anybody.” He also hinted that his look might change in the future, saying, “I might wake up tomorrow and you guys may not see any tattoo on my face.”
The singer, who was nominated for Best African Music Performance at the Grammys, also explained his outfit, saying he was in his “military era” and likes to dress exactly how he feels.
Asake’s appearance at the Grammys marked his first time attending the awards ceremony. His compatriot, Tems, won the award for Best African Music Performance for her song “Love Me Jeje.”
