The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON), Kebbi State Chapter, has condemned the alleged killing of one of its members, Tukur Salihu, by operatives of the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Zone B, Kaduna, attached to Kebbi State. Salihu, 45, was allegedly shot on February 7, 2026, between 11 a.m. and noon along Nagari College to Illelar-Yari area in Birnin Kebbi metropolis.

According to AMDON’s Secretary, Shehu Bunza, the incident represents a “deliberate and unwarranted use of force” and highlights growing concerns over extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses in the state and country. “We are particularly disturbed by the fact that this incident occurred in broad daylight, and the perpetrators seemed to have acted with impunity, disregarding the sanctity of human life,” Bunza said.

Salihu, who left behind two wives, seven children, and aged parents, was rushed to the hospital but passed away at midnight and was buried in his hometown in Argungu. AMDON has called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice. The association also urged the Kebbi State government to ensure justice is served and the rights of the deceased’s family are protected.

AMDON demanded that the Nigeria Customs Authority investigate the incident immediately and take necessary actions to prevent such occurrences in the future. The association also called for adequate compensation and support for the deceased’s family from the Kebbi State government. Additionally, AMDON appealed to the National Human Rights Commission, the Nigerian Bar Association, and other human rights organizations to take up the matter and ensure justice is served.Customs Operatives Allegedly Kill Car Dealer in Kebbi, Sparks Outrage
