Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has reportedly submitted multiple musical works for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, including his album Oriade and several high-profile collaborations.
The submissions, disclosed by music awards tracking platform The Grammy Guru and reported by Nigerian media outlets on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, span several categories, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Global Music Album and Best African Music Performance.
Davido’s reported entries reflect his continued pursuit of international recognition for Nigerian music and the expanding influence of Afrobeats on the global music industry.
His sixth studio album, Oriade, was submitted for Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, and Best Album Cover. The entries cover both the album’s overall artistic production and its technical and visual presentation.
Among the individual songs submitted is B4 B4, featuring Mayorkun and FOLA. The track was reportedly entered for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.
Another submission, Nakupenda, features South African music group TxC alongside Nigerian artistes Zlatan and Shoday, as well as Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo. The collaboration was reportedly entered for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance, highlighting the cross-border partnerships shaping contemporary African popular music.
Davido’s other reported entries include Le Show, featuring Ayra Starr and French Montana, for Best African Music Performance. Meanwhile, I Know Who I Be, featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay, was submitted for Best Music Video.
The range of entries covers album recognition, songwriting, recording performance, engineering, visual artwork and music video production.
However, submission does not guarantee a Grammy nomination. The Recording Academy must first assess entries for eligibility before voting determines which recordings and artistes advance to the final nominations.
According to the information provided in the report, first-round voting for the 69th Grammy Awards is scheduled to run from October 12 to October 22, 2026, with nominees expected to be announced on November 16. The ceremony is scheduled for February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles, United States.
Davido previously received five Grammy nominations associated with his album Timeless and songs including Unavailable and Feel ahead of the 2024 ceremony. He has yet to win a Grammy Award.
His latest reported submissions come amid sustained international interest in Afrobeats and collaborations between Nigerian artistes and musicians from other African countries and international markets.
For Nigeria’s music industry, Grammy recognition carries significance beyond individual achievement. International nominations can increase global visibility, strengthen commercial opportunities and create additional platforms for African music and its creators.
Whether Davido’s latest entries translate into nominations will depend on the Recording Academy’s eligibility review and voting process. For now, the reported submissions place the Nigerian singer among the artistes seeking recognition at the 2027 edition of the prestigious awards.
Davido reportedly submits five entries for the 2027 Grammy Awards, including Oriade, B4 B4 and Nakupenda, across major international music categories.
