The death toll from the Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, has risen to 33. The attack has sparked widespread protests, with angry women and youths halting the mass burial of victims at the ECWA Church. The protesters are demanding the release of three youths arrested by the military in connection with the incident 
The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew to prevent further violence and restore order. Governor Caleb Mutfwang has condemned the attack as “barbaric and unprovoked” and assured residents that security agencies are working to track down the perpetrators.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has also condemned the attack, stressing that sustainable peace can only be achieved through justice. “There can be no peace without justice. Government must ensure that justice is served for lasting peace to return,” said Rev. Gomwalk Dunkan, Chairman of CAN’s Plateau State chapter
The attack has heightened tensions in the area, reflecting residents’ growing frustration over recurring violence and perceived delays in justice.
