One 101 year old great grandmama, wey dem call Esther Ogunmabo, don enter police hand after officers from Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) catch am for allegedly selling illegal drug for Ogun State.
NDLEA say dem arrest the old woman for Ilisan, Ogun State, on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
According to the agency, dem catch am with 90 grams of skunk, wey na one kind of cannabis. Dem say she package the drug for small sachets so she fit sell am to people for the area.
The woman reportedly tell NDLEA officers say she dey sell the drug to people inside the community.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, say the woman tell investigators say she enter the drug business after fire burn down her provisions shop.
She reportedly say one of her daughters, wey dey stay for Lagos, dey bring the drug give am around every four days.
The old woman go then divide the drug into small small quantities before she sell am.
NDLEA Say Make Dem Bail the 101 Yɛa Old Woman
Even though NDLEA accuse the woman of selling illegal drug, the agency boss, retired Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa, reportedly order say make dem release her on bail because of her old age.
Marwa also direct say make dem give the woman counselling.
NDLEA also arrest the woman’s daughter over the alleged drug business.
The agency say the action na part of the effort to fight drug trafficking and drug abuse for Nigeria.
NDLEA Still Dey Catch Drug Suspects Across Nigeria
The arrest of the 101 yɛa old woman na only one part of the different drug operations wey NDLEA carry out for different parts of Nigeria.
For Akwa Ibom State, NDLEA say dem arrest three people inside one wooden boat wey allegedly dey carry illegal drugs go fishing communities near Cameroon.
Officers reportedly recover more than 42.6 kilograms of drugs, including skunk and cocaine.
NDLEA also say dem discover say some of the cocaine dey hide inside cassava flour, wey people dey commonly call fufu.
For Lagos ports, the agency also seize two containers wey dem link to Thailand. According to NDLEA, the containers carry Loud, wey be one type of cannabis.
The agency put the value of the drugs wey dem seize at more than ₦4.4 billion.
NDLEA also report other arrests and drug seizures for Kano, Kwara, Oyo, Abia and Lagos states.
