Donald Trump says hush-money trial ‘very hard’ on wife Melania

Former President Donald Trump has spoken out about the impact his trial and subsequent conviction have had on his wife, Melania Trump. Last week, Trump was found guilty of falsifying business records to conceal hush-money payments made to former porn star Stormy Daniels during the  presidential election campaign. This makes him the first US president to be convicted of a crime.

Trump has consistently claimed that the trial was rigged and politically motivated.

During an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that his legal battle in New York has been particularly hard on Melania. The trial included explicit details of the alleged encounter between Trump and Daniels, such as Trump greeting her in silk pyjamas in his hotel suite and Daniels’ claim that they had sex without protection. In her testimony, Daniels also mentioned that Trump and Melania sleep in separate beds.

Trump acknowledged the possibility of being imprisoned for the 34 felony counts he was convicted of, each carrying a potential sentence of up to four years. However, he expressed uncertainty about whether the public would accept his incarceration, stating that there is a breaking point for the public. He also mentioned that he is “okay with it” if he ends up in prison.

Meanwhile, Stormy Daniels, the key figure in the New York case, expressed her shock at how quickly the jury reached a verdict. In her first public remarks since Trump’s conviction, she stated that she believes he should be sentenced to jail and perform community service for the less fortunate. She added that the case is not over for her and that she still has to live with the legacy of her involvement with Trump.

It’s important to note that Trump is facing numerous other charges in three separate criminal cases. One of these cases involves accusations of conspiring to overturn his narrow defeat by President Joe Biden in the state of Georgia during the election. The Florida case, which accuses Trump of mishandling classified documents, has had its trial indefinitely postponed.

Trump’s legal troubles continue to unfold, and the impact of his conviction on his political future remains uncertain.
