Di Director General of Edo State Diaspora Agency, Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro Okor, don call on Edo people wey dey live for abroad make dem no only send money come house, but make dem also use di knowledge, work experience, business connections and access wey dem get for other countries to bring better opportunities come Edo State.
Ogboro Okor make dis call during di 33rd Annual Edo National Association Worldwide Convention for Dallas, Texas, on September 5, 2026. She talk say diaspora involvement for Edo development suppose pass money transfer. E suppose include investment, new ideas, sharing of knowledge, business, healthcare, education and partnership with people and organisations for other countries.
According to di DG, di professional knowledge and international connections wey Edo people don build for different countries fit help businesses, organisations and communities for Edo connect with opportunities for outside di country. She say knowledge, new ideas, business skills and access to international markets na important things wey diaspora people fit bring, apart from money.
Di position dey show di wider way wey Edo State Diaspora Agency dey try change how Edo people for abroad connect with di state. Di agency say e dey work to support Edo people for abroad, encourage investment and partnership, and promote better image for Edo State. Di agency platform also dey provide ways for diaspora people to invest, connect with professionals, support development projects and build skills.
Ogboro Okor also talk about government responsibility toward Edo people wey dey outside Nigeria. She mention cases where di agency and volunteers don help Edo people wey face serious problems for countries like Germany, Mali, Libya, Tanzania, Italy and Russia. She say help for diaspora people suppose no depend on political party, religion or social position.
Di agency don also take part for healthcare projects. For July 2026, Channels Television report say Edo State Diaspora Agency dey involved for efforts to repair and improve Ugomoson Primary Healthcare Centre.
