The Edo State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim, identified as Jemila Ibrahim, and arrested five suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikioedem, the victim was rescued on May 13, 2026, during a sustained bush-combing operation carried out by security operatives around Okpege River Road in Iyuku Community, Jattu.
Jemila Ibrahim was reportedly kidnapped on May 10, 2026, but was rescued unharmed and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
The police said the following suspects were arrested in connection with the crime:
Nura Saminu, 24
Shaibu Isah, 23
Suraj Sabitu, 23
Yajubu Sagiru, 23
Oseni Abdullahi, 26
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives involved in the operation and reassured residents of the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
