Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community in Edo State, Nigeria, and around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
In a goodwill message the Governor described Eid al-Adha as a festival of profound religious significance, symbolizing sacrifice, obedience, and devotion to Almighty Allah.
Governor Okpebholo urged Muslims to reflect on the core values of the celebration, including compassion, generosity, and submission to the will of God, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).
“As we commemorate Eid al-Adha, let us be reminded of the enduring lessons of sacrifice and faith,” the Governor said. “This season offers an opportunity for us to deepen our commitment to peaceful coexistence and extend fellowship to our neighbours, regardless of religious beliefs.”
He emphasized the importance of unity and understanding among all citizens of Edo State, particularly in the current social climate, assuring the Muslim community of his administration’s unwavering commitment to promoting inclusivity and protecting the rights and freedoms of all residents.
“My administration remains focused on building an Edo State where peace, prosperity, and progress are shared by everyone,” he added. “Let us seize this period to pray for enduring peace, security, and development in our state and country.”
Governor Okpebholo also encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, adhere to public safety guidelines, and extend charity to the less privileged as a mark of true devotion.
On behalf of the government and people of Edo State, he wished the Muslim Ummah a blessed, peaceful, and joyous Eid al-Adha celebration.
