The Ekiti State Government has announced an extension of the retirement age for teachers from 60 to 65 years and increased the service year from 35 to 40 years. This decision aims to retain experienced educators in the state’s education sector.
The government also rewarded outstanding teachers with cash gifts totaling N46 million. Additionally, the governor approved an upward review of Science Teachers and Head of Department allowances, as well as the immediate payment of 2019 leave bonus arrears.
The governor emphasized the importance of education and the role teachers play in shaping the state’s future. He assured that the government will continue to prioritize teachers’ welfare and create an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.
