A fire broke out on a ship undergoing maintenance at Kirikiri Canal, Apapa, Lagos, on Wednesday, leaving one person severely injured. The vessel, used for transporting diesel and food supplies, was docked for routine repairs when sparks from welding operations ignited inflammable materials, triggering a blaze that sent thick smoke into the air.
The injured worker, identified as Mr. Ade, was rushed to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Apapa, for treatment. Eyewitnesses said the fire was brought under control by emergency responders from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) around 6:00 p.m.
