Fire Rages Through Cross River Community, Leaves Trail of Destruction

A devastating fire outbreak has ravaged the Agbokim Waterfall village in Etung Local Government Area, Cross River State, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The fire, which occurred on Tuesday, destroyed no fewer than 15 houses, including the residence of the council’s Vice Chairman.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was triggered by a leakage from a drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) that spilled into a nearby fire, sparking the inferno. The PMS was reportedly being stored in one of the houses and was meant for transit to Cameroon from Agbokim.

The fire spread rapidly through the community, causing widespread destruction and panic. Residents were left to fend for themselves as they tried to contain the blaze, but not before it had destroyed several homes and properties. The Director of the State Fire Service, Mr. Dennis Ajom, has confirmed the incident and mobilized officers to the scene to assess the damage and prevent further destruction.

The fire outbreak has left many families homeless and has caused significant economic hardship in the community. The incident has also highlighted the need for improved fire safety measures and emergency response systems in the area.
