The Esa-Oke Central Union, a group of indigenes, alleged that men in police uniform invaded the community and started shooting sporadically, leading to the deaths and injuries. The group also claimed that three vehicles were razed on the premises of the palace of Owamiran.
However, the Osun State Police Command denied the allegations, stating that the policemen were attacked by assailants while responding to a distress call. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Opalola, said that seven policemen were injured in the attack and that two of the attackers were arrested.
The police command has deployed more personnel to the area to prevent further escalation, and the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment has urged residents to embrace peace and allow for an amicable resolution of the disagreement.
