Funke Akindele, now a Nollywood mogul, recently shared the pivotal moment that launched her career: earning her first *N1 million in 1999* through her role as Bisi in the UNFPA-sponsored TV series _I Need to Know_. The series, which aired from 1998 to 2002, tackled adolescent health and social issues and became a national hit, catapulting Akindele into the spotlight.
Akindele began her acting journey in 1996 with minor “waka-pass” roles and faced numerous audition rejections before landing the role of Bisi.
After the pilot episode, producers criticized her for overacting and not sounding like a teenager. She was asked to “go home, study the script better, and come back for another pilot.” 
With the help of her younger sister, Akindele refined her teenage tone and mannerisms, securing a second chance. Her performance in the series earned her the N1 million, a life-changing sum at the time.
