Modupe Atanda, a colleague who was a student in the Nursing Department at the time of her death, was murdered, and the students of Federal University Oye Ekiti have called for the death penalty.

Under the direction of the Students’ Union Government, the students made a request to the security forces to investigate the incident and apprehend the evildoers.

The student, who had been reported missing in the past, was discovered dead and buried in a shallow grave near the nursing lecture theatre at the university on Thursday, according to the state police.

FUOYE SUG President, Emmanuel Ajayi, and the Advertising Official, Elizabeth Akuraku, who grieved the killed understudy, said, “The reason for death and way in which she kicked the bucket is a thing of extraordinary agony to the whole understudy people in FUOYE”.

In a statement posted on their social media accounts, the student leaders referred to their deceased colleague as “a precious and bright student.”

They stated, “We call for justice.” We hereby direct security personnel in the state of Ekiti to conduct an investigation and bring the perpetrators of this grave crime to justice as we mourn her sudden death and pay our last respects to the deceased.

The understudies said that they visited the funeral home and “no piece of her body was disfigured in opposition to cases and talk zooming around, similarly as police had made a few captures. We will not rest until the culprits are apprehended.

“The Command will do everything possible to uncover the identity of the perpetrator(s) and ensure they are made to face the full wrath of the law,” Dare Ogundare, the state’s police commissioner, stated earlier.

Ogundare, in an explanation on Thursday by the Police Advertising Official, Ekiti Order, Sunday Abutu, who sued for quiet, urged anybody with valuable data concerning the revolting episode to visit the Oye Divisional Police Central command, Oye Ekiti or the State CIID or call 09064050086/08053499199.

“Ten suspects are currently in custody undergoing investigation,” the statement added.

“The CP has ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the death of one Atanda Modupe Deborah, a 200-level nursing student at FUOYE. She was declared missing within the school premises on September 5, but she was found dead in a shallow grave about 30 meters behind the Nursing Lecture Hall,” according to the report.

The University Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, issued a statement on Wednesday evening that confirmed the death of the student who had been reported missing earlier.

According to Ibrahim, the information that reached the university’s security team was that the aforementioned student had passed away.

He stated, “While the university management conveys its condolences to the deceased family and the university community as a whole, particularly our dear students, the management reiterates that an investigation is still ongoing in collaboration with national security agencies to get to the root of the sad development and bring the culprits to justice.”

“We, thusly, appeal to understudies and any remaining partners to resist the urge to panic.”FUOYE students demand justice over colleague’s murder
