The Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, commissioned major infrastructure projects in Sokoto State as part of activities marking the second anniversary of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration.
Governor Okpebholo, who was specially invited to the Seat of the Caliphate, commissioned the Tamaje Water Scheme and the newly completed Mabera Township Roads, both of which are key developmental projects executed by the Sokoto State Government.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to his Sokoto counterpart for the honour of inviting him to commission the projects. He described the gesture as a testament to the growing partnerships and collaborations among forward-thinking state leaders across Nigeria.
“This is not just a privilege; it is a reflection of the growing partnerships we are building across the country. It shows that a New Edo has indeed risen,” Governor Okpebholo remarked.
The Edo State Governor also congratulated Governor Ahmed Aliyu and the people of Sokoto State for their developmental achievements in the last two years, noting that such milestones are signs of responsive governance and leadership focused on improving the lives of citizens.
“I congratulate my brother Governor and the great people of Sokoto State for their strides in development. Together, we will continue to advance progress, unity, and shared prosperity across Nigeria,” Okpebholo added.
The event was attended by top government officials, traditional leaders, and community representatives from Sokoto and other states.
