Gov Okpebholo Leads APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Okao of Ologbo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Friday led a high-powered delegation of government officials and party leaders on a condolence visit to the Okao of Ologbo, Chief Emmanuel Iyase, following the passing of his wife, Mrs. Mandaline Iyase.

The visit, which attracted prominent figures in the state’s political leadership, was marked by solemn reflections and heartfelt words of comfort for the bereaved family.

Speaking during the visit, Governor Okpebholo said he came alongside key stakeholders, including the local government chairman and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to sympathize with Chief Iyase over the painful loss.

“I’m here with my local government chairman and other party leaders as a group to commiserate with you over the death of your wife. It is painful, but you have to bear it. No matter how much you cry, she will not come back. I believe God will give you the strength to bear the loss,” the governor said.

He further encouraged the bereaved to remain strong and focus on moving forward despite the grief.

“By the grace of God, you still need to continue in life. Dwelling too much on it can affect your health. I know it is difficult, but you have to take heart,” he added.

Responding on behalf of the family, Chief Iyase, who also serves as the APC Chairman of Egor Local Government Area, expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s personal visit and support during their time of mourning.

A family representative described the governor’s presence as a rare gesture of empathy and leadership.

“How grateful we are cannot be expressed in words. We salute you for finding the time to visit us in this period of grief. It has not been easy for us. Your personal presence here is uncommon—many would have sent a message instead,” the family stated.
They further noted that the governor’s visit would remain a lasting memory.

“The fact that you came in person means you are writing history with us today, and it will resonate for many years. We sincerely thank you, sir. It shall be well with you,” they added.

Other dignitaries present during the visit included the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.; the APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; and the APC State Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah, among others.

The visit underscored the administration’s commitment to showing solidarity and support for party members and community leaders during times of personal loss.
