Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have abducted the wife of a pastor and her three children in Damasak, headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area, Borno State.
The incident happened on Saturday around noon near Kareto village.
According to a community source, the victims were travelling in a commercial vehicle from Maiduguri to Damasak when the gunmen intercepted it.
The attackers reportedly ordered only the pastor’s wife and her three children to get down, and allowed the driver and other passengers to continue.
The woman is the wife of Pastor Moses G. Guguma of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN. A source said she had just been discharged from a hospital in Maiduguri after a prolonged illness before she embarked on the journey.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown.
A resident in Damasak who asked not to be named called for prayers and support for the family, and alleged that they may have been targeted because of their faith.
Damasak, located in Borno North Senatorial District, is about 156 kilometers from Maiduguri. The area has recorded several insurgent attacks in recent years.
Security agencies have not released an official statement on the abduction.
