Joke Silver, the Nigerian veteran actress, has revealed that her celebrity husband Olu Jacobs has
Lewy Body Dementia.
The actress went on to say that her husband has been struggling with this for a few years. And
that these trialing times have been difficult for her husband as well as the entire family.
This was helped to dispel many rumors regarding the actors’ existence. As the unexpected
withdrawal of the seasoned actor from the television screen, led many to believe that he had died.
However, the veteran actor was spotted at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF),
looking anything but like himself.
Many Nigerians have speculated that his weight loss is the result of something more than a
neurological illness.

Could this be true? Let's understand a little more about dementia.
Dementia is caused by nerve cell injury or loss and their connection to the brain. Depending on
the individual and the severity of the disease, dementia can affect a person's speech, behavior,
perception, feelings, and learning abilities.
However, our research on the disease indicates that Lewy Body Dementia is more than just a
memory loss issue. People suffering from dementia not only forget things, but they also forget
how things are done.

Eating may be challenging for a person suffering from dementia. Most dementia sufferers may
lose their ability to chew and swallow. And, this may result in weight loss.
Furthermore, studies reveal that patients suffering from dementia burn more calories. Some of
them tend to wander and pace around a lot. These activities are known to burn calories, which
might result in a significant decrease in body weight.
As a result, it should come as no surprise that our Nollywood star is losing weight due to
dementia.
