The digital platform enables Nigerians to begin fresh voter registration, request corrections to personal information, transfer their voting location, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and update voter records without initially visiting an INEC office. The initiative is part of the commission’s broader efforts to modernize electoral services and improve citizens’ participation in democratic processes.

Services Available on the INEC Self-Service Portal

Eligible Nigerians can access the portal to:

– Register as a new voter if they have attained the legal voting age and meet constitutional requirements.
– Correct personal details such as names, dates of birth, or other voter information where necessary.
– Transfer their voter registration to another polling unit, local government area, or state after relocating.
– Apply for the replacement of a lost, stolen, or damaged Permanent Voter Card.
– Update voter records in line with INEC’s registration guidelines.

How to Register or Update Your Voter Information

To complete the process, applicants should:

1. Visit the official INEC online self-service portal.
2. Create an account using a valid email address and phone number.
3. Select the service required, including new registration, transfer, correction of details, or PVC replacement.
4. Fill in the required personal information accurately and upload the requested documents where applicable.
5. Schedule a biometric capture appointment at the designated INEC registration centre, as biometric verification remains mandatory before registration can be completed.
6. Attend the appointment for fingerprint and facial capture, after which INEC will process the application and notify applicants when their PVC is ready for collection.

Why the Portal Matters

The online platform significantly reduces paperwork and minimizes long queues at registration centres by allowing applicants to complete much of the process remotely before appearing for biometric verification.

INEC says the portal is intended to improve convenience, strengthen the integrity of the voter register, and encourage greater participation in Nigeria’s electoral process ahead of future elections.
